March 2011 Events through the Natchez Trace Parkway

The Natchez Trace Compact holds many exciting events in the month of March:

  • Annual Antique Faire – March 10-12 in Hohenwald, TN at Strand Theatre. Antique vendors will be selling fine antiques and world famous antique appraisers will be available. Call (931) 796-4519 or visit www.memoryjunctionantiques.com.
  • Women’s History Program presented by DAR – March 12 at the Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center. Ms. Margaret DeMoville of the Mississippi Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will present a Women’s History program on March 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Natchez Trace Parkway Visitor Center, near Tupelo, MS. The program will emphasize the critical role that the Mississippi DAR played in the commemoration of the Old Natchez Trace and the creation of the Parkway. This program is free to the public.   • Main Street Brew Fest – March 12 in Franklin, TN. Historic Downtown celebrates St. Patrick’s Day early with tastings of more than 50 beers and a sampling of Irish whiskey in the Main Street shops from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Main Street is closed to vehicle traffic but free and open to pedestrians. Most shops and restaurants will be open throughout the event.   • Spring Pilgrimage – March 12-April 16 in Natchez, MS. Thirty antebellum mansions, most of them private residences, open their doors to visitors during this five-week Pilgrimage every spring. Each house is unique with 18th and 19th century furnishings, porcelain, silver, clothing, tools, documents and diaries. Call (800) 647-6724 or visit www.natchezpilgrimage.com/spring.htm.
  • 23rd Annual Pieces & Strings Quilt Show – March 25-26 in Port Gibson, MS. A variety of quilting techniques and patterns both traditional and nontraditional will be available.
  • Port Gibson Heritage Festival – March 26 in Port Gibson, MS. For the ninth consecutive year you’ll find musical performances by leading blues and R&B artists, juried demonstrating artisans, 5K run/walk, step-show competition, venison cook-off competition and a children’s park.   • Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival – March 29-April 2 in Nashville, TN. Tin Pan South spotlights Nashville as the world capital of songwriting with more than 80 shows taking place throughout the week. Visit Tin Pan South for further information.
